We are the professional and advocacy organization for the local library community. RILA serves and represents library community members from all types of libraries including academic, public, school, and special. Our members include:

Types and Costs of Membership

Individual Membership

  • Trustee, Student, Retired, or Supporter = $15.00
  • Salary Under $15,000 = $15.00
  • Salary between $15,000 - $19,999 = $25.00
  • Salary between $20,000 - $29,999 = $30.00
  • Salary between $30,000 - $49,000 = $35.00
  • Salary between $50,000 - $69,000 = $60.00
  • Salary between $70,000 - $89,999 = $75.00
  • Salary Over $90,000 = $90.00

Student Membership

Institutional Membership

  • Bronze Membership = $75: Send up to 2 non-members to conference under membership rate
  • Silver Membership = $100: Send up to 3 non-members to conference under membership rate
  • Gold Membership = $150: Send up to 5 non-members to conference under membership rate
  • Friends Groups/Boards of Trustees Membership = $25

RILA Section Memberships with CORI and SLRI

RILA is proud to offer Section Memberships to the Cornucopia of Rhode Island (CORI) and School Librarians of Rhode Island (SLRI). You can join these Sections when you apply for or renew your RILA membership.

Individual Section Membership Costs

  • Cornucopia of Rhode Island (CORI): $5
  • School Librarians of Rhode Island (SLRI): $20

Benefits of Membership

  • A subscription to the RILA Bulletin, which features articles on library news, issues, and developments in Rhode Island and surrounding New England library communities
  • A subscription to the RILA LISTSERV, through which members can carry out discussions and share ideas, questions, and concerns with other RILA members
  • A discounted registration fee for the RILA Annual Conference, which educates and motivates members by presenting speakers, discussions, and workshops on diverse topics
  • Voting rights
  • The opportunity to become active on RILA Committees, which address a variety of library-related issues and concerns
  • Networking: the chance to interact with others who have similar interests and concerns about libraries, and meet notable librarians, information and media specialists, educators, and authors

Benefits of institutional memberships include:

  • A subscription to the RILA Bulletin in electronic format
  • A discounted registration fee for up to five (5) non-members to the RILA Annual Conference at the member rate

Note: The privileges of membership shall be forfeited if dues are not received within 6 months of renewal date.
